An Easy Trick to Keep Me Out of the Pantry

Gum as a Tool

I grew up chewing gum.  If you ask me about special memories with my grandmother, her purse full of gum is on the top of my list.  She always had gum, in her purse, in the kitchen drawer and she always said yes when I asked for a piece.  Gum is a tool I use to curb my cravings to eat.  When I find myself hungry and just wanting to munch on something, instead of looking in the pantry, I grab a piece of gum.  Gum gives me the sensation of eating and curbs my hunger without all the calories.  It has become a great distraction for me.  I will grab two pieces of XyloBurst gum and walk away from the kitchen.  There are several reasons I love this gum.  First it is not loaded with sugar and it is contributing to my oral health at the same time.

Even my kids like XyloBurst Chewing Gum.  (Shhhhh…Don’t tell them, its sugar-free) XyloBurst is 100% Xylitol, Natural Chewing Gum that comes in several great flavors:  Spearmint, Peppermint, Cinnamon, Fresh Fruit**, Wintergreen, Green Tea and Bubble Gum.  My personal favorite flavor is Wintergreen.  Another reason I love this gum is that it has NO artificial sweeteners, aspartame or sugar.  XyloBurst is made with a Xylitol, natural flavors, vegetable glycerin, gum arabic, soy lecithin (non-GMO), calcium carbonate, and carnauba wax (glazing agent). It is a gum not loaded with sugar that I can rest easy giving to my kids.

Oral Health Benefits

XyloBurst, xylitol chewing gum has many positive oral health benefits. Each piece has over 1 gram of xylitol and is recommended by dentist and hygienist.  Consuming 6 to 8 grams of Xylitol has been shown to improve oral health.

Cited in Clinical, Cosmetic and Investigational Dentistry, The effect of xylitol on dental caries and oral floraXylitol reduces the levels of mutans streptococci (MS) in plaque and saliva by disrupting their energy production processes, leading to futile energy cycle and cell death. It reduces the adhesion of these microorganisms to the teeth surface and also reduces their acid production potential. The plaque samples of habitual xylitol users showed a significant reduction in plaque adhesiveness and insoluble extracellular polysaccharides produced by S. mutans when compared with those who did not consume xylitol at all.

Over 35 countries have approved the use of xylitol in pharmaceuticals, oral health products, principally in chewing gums, toothpastes, foods, syrups, and confectioneries.”

After learning all the benefits of xylitol in gum I am happy to say yes when my kids ask for gum, just like Grandmother said yes to me.  XyloBurst also makes sugar-free, all-natural xylitol sweetened mints, lollipops, jams, erythritol and xylitol sugar-free sweeteners, as well as mint toothpaste and mouthwash.

So, whether your chewing gum to keep you out of the pantry and to curb your appetite or for oral health reasons, I would call XyloBurst a win for my family.
